Week of December 6 & 13, 2010Dear AdVENTURE 8th Grade Students,
this year. WeThis will help us prepare for the district-wide middle school benchmark test on Wednesday. I encourage you to also begin areview any notes and papers at home.We will conclude our two-week service learning unit. On Tuesday, I will share a powerpoint presentation with you about service learning. From thereunit as well. Last week we will choose a projectresearched various Wish Book projects and voted on Adopt-an-Angel and Good Karma Bikes. This week we will work to implement that project by the end of the semester. This is a great time of the year to think about wayspromote our projects, so we can support those in need.
Thanksshare our donations with these organizations before break. THANK YOU for your hard work this semester! It's been a pleasure to work with you each and haveeveryday. Enjoy a great week.

We will use what we learn to create an original question and answer game. This will give you an opportunity to demonstrate youralso begin a two-week service learning AND your creativity and innovation. This assignment is due 12/6. You canunit. On Tuesday, I will share your final gamea powerpoint presentation with your family at our second open house on 12/17. Please seeyou about service learning. From there we will choose a project and work to implement that project by the Peopleend of the semester. This is a New Nation tab forgreat time of the powerpoint I will share with you this week.Thankyear to think about ways we can support those in need.

we will be learningcontinue to learn about creating the constitution, chapter eight (pages 102-117.) HereU.S. Constitution
Monday, 11/15: Create a poster that might have been used to encourage people to support ratification of the Constitution. Your poster must include:
a catchy slogan
three reasons why states should ratify the Constitution
a visual to accompany each reason
extra creative touches to make your poster visually appealing (borders, lettering, etc.)
writing that is what youfree of spelling and grammatical errors
This will serve as your chapter 8 assessment. You will be expectedgraded on a 4-point rubric to know and do:
Monday, 11/8: Cause and Effect Assessment - causes ofgo on your next progress update. Posters will need to be completed as an individual assignment. I encourage you to use the American Revolution.summaries you completed last week.
